The Madrid night.

Madrid goes out late: dinner after nine, drinks after eleven and clubs until six in the morning. The city has a big urban and Latin music scene.

I have been promoting parties in Madrid since 2013. Here is what you need to know before you go out.

  • Where to go

    The centre (Sol, Callao and Gran Vía) has everything close together. Salamanca and Castellana have a more upmarket crowd, and Malasaña and Tribunal the alternative scene.

  • What time

    Dinner from 21:00 to 23:00 and drinks from 23:00. Clubs open from 23:30, the best atmosphere starts around 01:00 and most close at 06:00.

  • Dress code

    Smart casual in most city-centre clubs: jeans or chinos, a shirt and smart shoes. Leave the tracksuit and beachwear at the hotel.

  • Getting home

    The metro runs until about 01:30. After that there are night buses (búhos), ride-hailing apps and official taxis.

  • Urban music

    For reggaeton and Latin urban music with live artists, look out for La Ponce nights.

  • Budget

    Dinner, entry, a few drinks and a taxi usually add up to 80–120 € per person. A VIP table is 200 € for 5 people, with a bottle and entry included.
